Best Wine Bar Near Kensington
Book NowAs someone once said: ‘Life is too short to drink bad wine’. We couldn’t agree more - especially when it’s accompanied by a sensational steak at Zelman Meats. A good - or not so good - wine can make all the difference to a meal, which is why as much thought and time is put into the wine list as the food menu at Zelman. Seeking out a great Kensington wine bar? You’ve found it…
A corking selection
Whether it’s sparkling, red, white or rosé, the wines at Zelman are all carefully selected by the sommeliers, who’ve searched the world’s vineyards for the very best - from Abruzzo to Austria, Bordeaux to Barossa Valley.
If you need some guidance, simply speak to one of the knowledgeable (and friendly) bar staff who’ll be only too happy to help. They know their stuff.
To give your evening a little sparkle, how about some fizz, whether that’s a glass of NV Prosecco Porta Nova, right up to a bottle of Krug Grand Cuvee 167eme EDT.
The selection of whites is every bit as impressive; Austria, Australia, France, New Zealand and the USA are all represented - from a Funkstyle Grüner Veltliner from Niederösterreich to a delicate Pouilly‑Fuissé from Burgundy, to a Benevolent Neglect Riesling from Santa Rosa.
Of course, many a glass of red has accompanied Zelman’s fantastic cuts of steak - and the wine list has plenty to choose from - by the glass and bottle.
Reds from Chile, South Africa and Italy sit alongside selections from Australia, Argentina and Spain - from a Dandelion Lionheart Shiraz from the Barossa Valley to a rather wonderful Manos Negras Stone Soil Malbec from Argentina’s Uco Valley.
There’s a good choice of rosé wines too, as well as sweet wines and port to bring the Zelman experience to a fitting close.
Food, glorious food
The wine list has been given as much love as the food menu at Zelman Meats, with the cuts of steak from Australia, Japan and Canada the stars of the show.
The experience starts with the likes of Beef Carpaccio, Lobster Croquettes, Tiger Prawn Tempura and the creamiest Burrata.
On the main courses, the steaks take centre stage; Wagyu Rib-Eye from Australia - Grade 8-9+, cereal grains fed Japanese Black; grain-finished Angus Aberdeen Black Fillet from Canada; Australian Striploin - grain-finished Hereford & Angus Aberdeen Black; and Canadian grain-finished Angus Aberdeen Black Rib-Eye and Picanha.
The choice can be a little overwhelming - so there is the simple option of the Zelman Plate - every cut on one plate (minimum of two people ordering).
Fancy something other than steak? Then go for the incredible short ribs - USDA, slow cooked with BBQ sauce; seabass; or the Zelman Wagyu Burger.
The steaks come with a choice of sauces - BBQ, Peppercorn, Chimichurri or Sriracha Mayo - and whatever main course you order, there’s a myriad of sides including Black Truffle and Parmesan Chips, Portobello Mushrooms, Superfood Salad, Triple Cooked Chips, Charred Hispi Cabbage and Roasted Heirloom Carrots to name a few.
Meat-ing point
So where are these incredible wines, cocktails and steaks? Zelman Meats is at the heart of everything that London has to offer, on the top floor of Harvey Nichols, at the junction of Knightsbridge and Sloane Street.
It’s a well connected spot - both for famous landmarks such as Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace, as well as transport; there’s a myriad of bus routes that pass by (check the Transport For London website for all the details), and London Underground will bring you close by too - Knightsbridge tube station is just two minutes away by foot, while Hyde Park Corner is only a five-minute walk.
